TL,DWTWRN: New script incoming!
I had known about this script for a long time, but I didn’t want to start working on it until I had the Bold Script done, so…
(As you can see, that’s gone out the window.)
This is the script found on the trucks when the Squid Sisters are singing City of Color. And, since the city is Inkopolis, I think I’ll call it the ink script.
So, what does this entail?
As expected, it comes from a Squid Sister song.
The truck says “High Color Shinka,” as seen by the recurrence of certain letters to form the words. “Shinka” was deduced when H and I were next to each other. This is just an English transcription of its Japanese (Katakana) name, ハイカラシンカ (Inkopolis Evolution). Using this, we can try to tackle some Sunken Scrolls.
When we look at the name of this page, it says “Ikas?gra?” And, this looks like it could “Instagram,” but with a twist: “Ikasu,” meaning cool. So, we can assume this says “Ikasugram.” However, there is more on her phone to be looked at later.
Now, THIS is a bit to look at. I don’t get the big deal, unless there’s something before my eyes. “OOO ?LANK?ONAK?O OAKOU.” What the heck? But, before we attempt to decode that, let’s look around. Above it to the left, we see the word “kachou,” which means a lot of things, of which many could be the correct translation. Above it to the right, we see “SHOKU?.” I have no idea what it means. But, the biggest shocker comes right above it to the left, where molecules (?) are being displayed. If we put it together, we get “I?I NI SANN.” However, the first three numbers (1, 2, 3) in Japanese are Ichi, Ni, San… This means that there’s a separate letter for “Ch” in the ink script… But then, what about kachou? I have no idea. But if we plug this in, we get…
“OOO ?LANKCHONAKCHO OAKOU”
However, how does this work? If you don’t know, Japanese does not have letters with individual sounds, per say (In English, N makes an “n” sound and A makes an “ɑː” sound). Japanese has a syllabic system (な makes the “na” sound) with a few exceptions here and there, namely ん. So, in that context, this would make no sense whatsoever. But, this Sunken Scroll is written in a scientific setting, meaning that these could be scientific terms. And, I’ll just skip to it:
NaKC4H4O6. Rochelle Salt.
While I can’t figure out the first part (I’m no chemist), the second part matches up with Rochelle Salt, which is a double salt of tartaric acid with a piezoelectric effect (squeeze it and you can make electricity flow through it), and it decomposes at around 131° F (55° C). So, could this be the secret to Inkling anatomy? IDK. Besides, I can’t figure out what the heck the first part of it is. Maybe this is all for nothing. Maybe I’m thinking too much. But, if this was intentional, it was cool nonetheless.
