FROSTY!

So, I just found this video of someone who hacked the starting area of the Octo Expansion, and put it in the first Splatoon. I had (at first) rejoiced at how easy it was to find translatable phrases, oooh! So, I made a little guide, using the Square and Round alphabets.

0:07 – Okenae (桶苗)

0:11 – Musuna (ムスな, maybe 蒸すな?), Upto wnleh (Uptown LEH)

0:17 – IC Card, yukuri to tatchi (ゆっくりとタッチ), ticket

0:20 – Bro Park, Rule Conduct, Letter

0:22 – Reckeye Center

0:37 – Mokutekichi (目的地), tugi (次), mae (前)

Though I think the most funny thing was when the ad finished.

  1. Hey! I was wondering if you could look at the door mat of the shoal and then the new pulp/no pulp splatfest shirt, I tried lining them up but they didn’t match any of the alphabets.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been busy with traveling.

The Splatfest shirts (all of ’em) have the name of the team in front, which is made up of capital “bold script” letters that have been turned this way and that to look like capital latin letters. [Unfortunately, the best example I could give you is writing “EXTRA THICC” using Latin-letter-like kanji.] The same is true for the writing on the bottom of the back of the shirts, with sayings such as “Which do you want to use?”, “Which do you like?”, and, in the case of The Chicken vs. The Egg, “Which is ahead?”

If you are talking about the “word” on the top of the back of the shirts, that’s part of another alphabet (https://www.reddit.com/r/splatoon/comments/65j67o/selfiespot_inklings_have_caught_on_to_the_hashtag/) that I call the “City Script”, which I am still investigating. And (if I can remember correctly) I believe that the font at The Shoal is a stylized version of this “City Script.”

      Hope this reply helped!
